In 1991, the Nebraska Legislature created the Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR) within the Office of the State Court Administrator. ODR coordinates the development of mediation centers throughout the state which serve as an alternative to the courts as a means to resolve problems. The Resolution Center, through the use of a neutral third party, assist disputing individuals in working together to obtain mutually acceptable solutions.  The Resolution Center mediates a variety of civil cases such as family matters, landlord/tenant, employer/employee, community, business disputes; facilitates group decision making; and offers customized training in dispute resolution and negotiation skills.

The Resolution Center, with its main office located in Beatrice, Nebraska, is one of the six Nebraska Supreme Court approved mediation centers serving sixteen counties in southeast Nebraska.  As a non-profit (501c3) organization, the center is funded through grants, tax-deductible donations, and client fees.
